On this very sacred day and time, 16th April 09, 2:13pm, I've decided to stop using the F word.
I do not know how and when did I picked up this bad habit, which I used to hate. It became such a common word that I used it at least twice a day. Anyway from now on, it's not going to vibrate from my voice box cause it's so not cool!
What made me come to my senses?
I was talking to someone in the morning, and that person said the word so casually that it kinda irritate me. Maybe it's due to my negative feelings towards that person, but it's a good change anyway.

This incident leads me to realise that I have and can actually learn a lot from people that I encounter. Be it people that I love, hate, like or even strangers.
I've learnt simple things like a new vocab, to things that improves my EQ.

People tend to pick up new habits when they move out of their country to a new place, and they usually pick up the bad ones more than the good ones. Take Australia as an e.g., they say thank you to the bus driver when they alight, they smile and ask how are you when you make your purchase. These are the good habits, but how many actually practice these good habits when they go back to their home country. On the contrary, they 'practice' the bad habits everywhere they go. The F word is a very classic example. Not many people in Singapore uses the F word, even if they do, the frequency of them using is not as high as the Australians. But asians/Singaporeans pick up the F word in Australia, and mix them in every single sentence, and bring it back to their home country. Another would be kissing, to be more precise, french kissing. How often do you see people french kissing in Singapore? I've seen 0 in school, maybe 1 or 2 on the streets, but I've seen so many asians kissing in school here in Australia. There's this particular incident that left quite an impression in me, it was in high school, 2 chinese, a Singaporean and a Indonesian, they kissed at the locker area where everyone was busy getting their books. I was so afraid that their tongue might get tangled, and the girl wasn't 'satisfied' and asked for more after they parted slightly.
After living in a more westernised country, people tend to think that it's ok to do these things. but often, these people just doesn't know when to stop. It sounds right when a Ang moh uses the F word, and the ang moh doesn't kiss like how the couple I saw at the locker did. We asians learn it but we take it further a step and it portrays a different kind of feeling?
We should take the courage to practice the good habits, even in our home country, and use the bad habits sparingly.
