It was quiet, only my footsteps.
3rd day of school. SO FAST?? OHNOOO
Attended my cousin's graduation yesterday.
I had a chance to go into the office of St George bank yesterday, and the idea of working in a office came into mind again.
I had wanted to work in a office when I was little, apart from being a teacher so that I could mark homework. Being really busy, typing, phone calls, note pads, facsimile, etc etc. That was like the ideal job. I wanted to work in a place where I can interact with many people, where I have lots of colleagues.
I played 'office office' with my cousins, when we were younger. There were a few old computers and phones at my grandma's, so we would just set everything up, pretended to answer calls, writing down clients information and pass them to each other.
When I was primary 5, my form teacher asked what our ambition was. I raised my hand and said that I wanted to be a floor manager. Why? Because I was a drama freak, and there's this drama about stock broker playing on channel 8 at that time. Fann Wong was the lead actress and they replayed the drama few months back. The work environment is similar to what I wanted
But things changed, the idea of working in such a environment could still be there, but as my interest changes, the idea was stuffed into the back of my mind.
After I graduated from year 12, and was deciding on what to do next, the work environment was one of the factors that I considered. I was choosing between Physiotherapy or Chiropractic. A physiotherapist work environment would be what I wanted, working in a hospital, there would be interactions with doctors and nurses, patients, administrative stuff etc. But I choose Chiropractic. Why? I don't remember exactly why. The lure could be money and fame and some influence.
More than likely, my future work environment would be the direct opposite from what I wanted. My colleagues would be the assistant and maybe another Chiropractor, and the other people that I'll be interacting with are patients.
Looking back, my path could lead me to anywhere. If I had worked hard during my primary and secondary school days, I might end up studying commerce, because that's what most me and Singaporeans want to study. If I had worked less hard and did really badly for my Os I might well become a pet groomer. If I had worked extremely hard or I have the courage to re-adapt myself in another city, I might become a Veterinarian.
oh well. I can't foresee the future.
